FACTS ABOUT CHILDREN’S DAY

  • Children’s day is celebrated all over the world. This tradition was initiated by Bishop Charles Leonard, pastor of the universal redeemer church in Chelsea, Massachusetts, on the second Sunday of June in 1856.   
  • The purpose of this holiday was to increase awareness of rights, care and education of children.  
  • At first, the Children’s day was called Rose day, later the name was changed to the Floral Sunday. 
  • UNICEF protects the right of the children in more than 190 countries and territories. Their slogan is “For every child, hope” 

PRINCIPLE OF CHILDREN’S DAY 

  • Children should be given everything they need to mature into adults. 
  • Children should be given food, medicine, housing and care when they need it. 
  • Children in danger should be the first to received help. 
  • Children should be educated and not forced into workFifth principle: 
  • Children shoud be taught to respect and help others.
