Typhoon Ulysses (international name: Vamco) is the 21st cyclone that struck the Philippines this year. Nations were battered and did not have time to rebuild from the last cyclone called Typhoon Rolly (international name: Goni) that killed 25 people and destroyed thousands of homes this early November. The latest typhoon (Ulysses) battered homes and 4 missing people are reported missing cause of the wreckoning of floods and wind speed.

Roughly 40,000 – 50,000 homes had been partially or fully submerged in Marikina City because of Typhoon Ulysses. Marikina City Mayor, Marcelino Teodoro stated “The situation in Marikina City is overwhelming and the worst typhoon that hit since 2009 cause of floods and destruction”. 

Typhoon Rolly (Goni) is recorded as the typhoon recorded on earth with winds peeking up to 195mph. The typhoon crashed into the Philippines, first striking Catanduanes Island, home to over 200,000-260,000 people.

Typhoon Rolly’s explosive intensification occurred over the warm waters in the western Pacific Ocean. Its peak winds catapulted from just shy of 100 mph to nearly 180 mph between Thursday and Friday night local time. By early Sunday morning, its winds had increased to 195 mph.
